Description
Here we have an Upland Sandpiper that really wanted to pose for the photographer. This photoshoot took place about 15 miles south of Long Pine, Nebraska.
In the state of Nebraska, the north central area is known as The Sandhills, often written Sand Hills, and is a region of mixed-grass prairie on grass stabilized sand dunes and is over one quarter of the state. The Sandhills were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1984.
The Upland Sandpiper is fairly common and is a migratory bird that travels to South America in the winter.
