Description
On a late April afternoon, I spotted this Western Grebe enjoying a Laid Back Swim. You can see how he has his neck resting on his back, and he was casually riding the choppy water, just maintaining his position. Also known as dabchick, swan grebe, and swan-necked grebe.
I could tell that he was not bothered by my existance as long as I kept a good distance. After awhile, he decided to do some preening. Then he decided to do some diving, I presume looking for a snack. All-in-all I shot a lot of photographs of this Western Grebe that endured a period of fifty-seven (57) minutes, and I enjoyed all fifty-seven minutes of this unique wildlife photoshoot.
Unique because there is not an abundance of Western Grebe in the North Platte, Nebraska area. This photoshoot took place in a backwater area of the North Platte River that winds through Buffalo Bill Ranch State Park on the north edge of North Platte, Nebraska.
This photograph has had an artistic filter applied to give it qualities unique to the art of painting.
