Description
It was the morning after a full moon in April 2015, the moon was still visible after sunrise, but heading to the western horizon. The location is mid-America, precisely at North Platte, Nebraska. In March and April, thousands and thousand of Sandhill Cranes make a several week layover in their migration back to their northern home.
Every evening, shortly before sunset, the Sandhill Cranes will make their way from recently harvested corn fields to the North Platte River where they will gather on sandbars for the night.
Every morning, shortly after sunrise, the Sandhill Cranes will leave the sandbars and make their way back to the cornfields.
On this morning, the morning after a full moon, I was able to capture a group flying in a V-shape formation with the moon in the background.
Yes, once the sun has risen and the moon is still visible, it is very faint. I enhanced this photograph with several special effects to achieve the look I was after.
I then added another artistic effect to give a feel of texture and dimension, and featured in "The Slat Collection" by Bill Kesler Photography.
