Description
One of the best locomotives still in service, the UP 949, an E9 model built by EMD (Electro Motive Division). Union Pacific Railroad still uses this vintage diesel-electric locomotive for excursion service.
I love the UP Wings logo on the front of this locomotive that started its service back in the mid 50s. I made this photograph on a sunny afternoon in January 2011, seen here west of the North Platte Service Track in Bailey Yard. Bailey Yard, located in North Platte, Nebraska is the world's largest railroad classification yard. UP 949 is based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
This photograph has had an artistic filter applied to give it qualities unique to the art of painting.
