The giant steam locomotive has stopped at the station, an elegant woman pauses near the chrome cylinder cap on the main cylinder to check her hat in the reflection before boarding the train.
At one time Union Pacific Railroad owned 105 Challenger steam locomotives. Today only two remain, one is on display in North Platte, Nebraska - the UP 3977 and the other is the UP 3985 and is being used in excursion service.
Almost 122 feet in length, this articulated locomotive has a wheel arrangement of 4-6-6-4 and weighs more than a million pounds.
