Description
I noticed some movement in a bush and after a few seconds I realized that a bird was in pursuit of a flying insect. After a few more seconds, the bird finally paused in the upper part of the bush. From a distance I could tell that the bird was a Brown Thrasher. Using my telephoto lens I took aim - the morning light was amazing and I could see that he was holding the insect in his beak and I grabbed a couple of photographs.
The Brown Thrasher is slightly larger than the American Robin and has a long tail. Other features are the speckled breast, the brown tones and the yellow eye. In my research of the Brown Thrasher, he is known for having a large number of songs. Some references indicated over a thousand while some even indicated over three thousand. A thousand songs, I think that is amazing.
I made this photograph a couple of miles south of Sutherland, Nebraska. Most of the land south of Sutherland is farm land, but this was an undeveloped corner of a farm with a dozen trees/shrubs and an old grain storage bin. I've photographed lots of birds and even an owl on this corner. Please visit my collection titled The Bird Collection.
This photograph has had an artistic filter applied to give it qualities unique to the art of painting.
