I love the American flag, and I love how Union Pacific Railroad has a large reflective full-color graphic of the American flag installed on both sides of their locomotives. I never measured one of those graphics when I worked for Union Pacific but I would guess it measures 5 to 6 feet vertically. It really gets your attention. Again, I love the American flag.
If it is night time and you find yourself at a railroad crossing waiting for a train, your headlights hit that reflective graphic and it lights up in full color and looks awesome.
I made this photograph in Bailey Yard at North Platte, Nebraska. Bailey Yard is the world's largest railroad classification yard, it is huge and well worth seeing if you find yourself near North Platte. Interested in photography since my high school years in the late 60’s, I finally purchased a Nikon SLR in the late 70’s and wasn’t long until I started selling my work. In 1970 I began my electrical career and continued to mix photography into my daily travels.
