Description
This bull bison stopped by for a quick portrait while I was driving through Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge.
He has a lot of dried mud on his head just above the mouth as well as mud on his beard. He also has some damage to the tip of his right horn.
I liked how the dried mud contrasted nicely with the furry textures of the bison’s hairy coat.
This photograph is also available in color in my gallery titled The Bison Collection and titled Muddy Thunder - Bison.
I made this photograph in late August 2019 in Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge a few miles east of Valentine, Nebraska.
