Description
This bull bison stopped by for a quick portrait while I was driving through Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge.
He has a lot of dried mud on his head just above the mouth as well as mud on his beard. He also has some damage to the tip of his right horn.
I liked how the dried mud contrasted nicely with the furry textures of the bison’s hairy coat.
This photograph is also available in black-and-white in my gallery titled The Bison Collection and titled Muddy Thunder - Bison - Sepia Tone.
I made this photograph in late August 2019 in Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge a few miles east of Valentine, Nebraska.
