Description
July in Nebraska, you can always find a corn field. Most likely it will be an irrigated corn crop and the water is magic. Magic Sprinkles Above The Crop is the name of the photograph, and as the bright sunlight hits the water spray, colorful twinkles appear. And it is not uncommon to see a miniature rainbow in the water spray.
This irrigation sprinkler is almost vintage. Newer sprinklers employ drops to bring the sprinkler head just above the crop, allowing more water on the crop with less evaporation. As you can see on the vintage sprinkler, the sprinkler head is fixed above the feed piping.
I made this photograph a couple miles south of Sutherland, Nebraska - July 2016.
