Most mornings I am up and gone before the sun rises so that if conditions permit, I will get to witness a beautiful sunrise. As the Blue Hour was coming to a close, I could tell that the conditions were really looking good, but they were more than I anticipated. It turned out to be what I call a magnificent sunrise.
I was in position near a small pond just outside North Platte, Nebraska when the magic began. Just as I started to capture this magnificent sunrise, a couple of ducks had been in the reeds along the bank and decided to retreat to the open waters. Patiently I waited until they got far enough out to appreciate the wake that their morning swim was creating. I even got lucky that they both turned their heads for a defining profile shot.

Interested in photography since my high school years in the late 60’s, I finally purchased a Nikon SLR in the late 70’s and wasn’t long until I started selling my work. In 1970 I began my electrical career and continued to mix photography into my daily travels.
