Description

Illumination from several high pressure sodium floodlights on the walkway to the reservoir outlet gate allows these long exposures to light up the nearby leafless trees. I took seventy-seven (77) long exposures and stacked them in the post-processing to form the star trails. The color photograph looked pretty nice and the leafless trees took on the orangy-yellow tone from the high pressure sodium floodlights about 500' behind the south facing camera. I elected to process this in black-and-white and really like the "feel" of it. I really like how the illuminated trees turned mostly white in the process, really setting the mood.

This photograph was made at Sutherland Reservoir State Recreation Area near the outlet gate a few miles south of Sutherland, Nebraska. (November 2017)
