Artist's Description
Union Pacific's UP 844 is seen at track speed at O'Fallon's near Sutherland, Nebraska.
Built in 1944, it was the last steam locomotive delivered to Union Pacific and is the only steam locomotive never to be retired by a North American Class I railroad.
The UP 844 has a wheel configuration of 4-8-4, the drivers have a diameter of 80". This photograph shows the gyrating Mars light just above the headlamp. In 2013, the Mars light was removed due to the mounting bolts failing.
UP 844 is used by Union Pacific for Excursion Service and logs thousands of miles each year.

About Bill Kesler
Interested in photography since my high school years in the late 60’s, I finally purchased a Nikon SLR in the late 70’s and wasn’t long until I started selling my work. I am sure that I will stay very active with my photography. Photography has blessed me in so many ways, and I continue to be in awe of God’s wonderful work with this beautiful world we live in. In 1967 country music’s Song of the Year was “It’s Such A Pretty World Today”, performed by the...

Hello Karen, glad you like the image as well as the locomotive. It truly is a sight to see. Celebrating their 150th year, Union Pacific put on quite a show - throughout most of the midwest and western states. I visited your artwork yesterday, favorited a few - very impressive work! Looking forward to seeing more - Thanks for your comment. Bill Kesler

Love this train image. I saw it when it came thru Amarillo, Tx on it's 150th anniversary run.
