Description
Center pivot irrigation is a form of overhead sprinkler irrigation consisting of several segments of pipes (usually galvanized steel or aluminum) joined together and supported by trusses, mounted on wheeled towers with sprinkler drops positioned along the length. The machine moves in a circular pattern and is fed with water from the pivot point at the center of the circle.
The drops for this center pivot sprinkler utilizes a gooseneck pipe that is attached along the top of the pipe, the nozzle is just a few feet above the crop which reduces evaporative losses and wind drift.
Besides being valuable in the agricultural industry, they make an interesting photographic subject.
