This snowy egret had been fishing in the shallow water, then decided to take a break and hopped up on the fallen tree and began its daily feather maintenance. The distinctive yellow feet are covered in the mud from his fishing adventure.

I made this photograph at the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge near Socorro, New Mexico.

Interested in photography since my high school years in the late 60’s, I finally purchased a Nikon SLR in the late 70’s and wasn’t long until I started selling my work. In 1970 I began my electrical career and continued to mix photography into my daily travels. With my successful electrical career coming to a close with retirement in mind, I won’t be one of those persons that retire and wonder what they will do with the rest of their lives.
